SIF’s holds its first in-person meeting of 2024 in Basel, Switzerland
On June 17th, 2024, the UNDP Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF) convened for its first in-person meeting of the year in Basel, Switzerland. This gathering followed the previous meeting held in Tokyo in November 2023.
Under the leadership of Mr. Daniel Wang from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), who chairs SIF, the half-day session proved highly productive. Thirty-eight SIF members and partners engaged in insightful discussions, reflecting on their achievements over the past six months. This exchange allowed participants to share notable advancements in sustainable insurance practices.
Central to the meeting’s agenda were updates from various SIF working groups, including Transition Plans, and Capital and Supervisory Frameworks (CSWG), plus a dedicated session on Biodiversity and Nature-related Risks. Members received a preview of SIF’s upcoming website, slated for launch next month, which aims to enhance communication and collaboration among stakeholders followed by an update on COP16 and COP29.
The meeting concluded with members agreeing on next steps to further advance the ongoing work of SIF between now and year end meeting taking place in Cape Town, December 2024.
